Architectural Survey

After a restful break, we started our new term, and of course as you can guess, it immediately brought new tasks.

Our first assignment was the architectural survey which is about drawing and measuring a building to understand and make an analyze on it. At the first stage, we all try to make some sketches of assigned parts of the building (our’s was corridor) as a group.  The drawing set should be composed of section and plan drawings. Secondly, we learned how we are going to make those measurements and which equipments we should use. First of all we determined the zero level for the several part of the corridor, then started the other measurements over those zero levels. We benefitted from the triangulation method for the plan drawing and specifying the coordinates (x,y) for the sections. We used those methods to achieve the most accurate measurements and drawings. Then as the last thing, we started to draw them on AutoCAD.

It was a challenged assignment for our group because the length of the corridor is much more than the classes and it include much more detailed characteristics. We had to do a lot of measurements and it took a long time and much more effort. After some few days that spent on the corridor, we made the drawings. Although we had the measurements, it was also hard to draw on AutoCAD.
